Stanley, like most toads, is not big on words. He is also not much to look at, but Just-a-Click took to him quickly, because we understand that looks aren't everything, especially when it comes to design.
We've seen visually stunning campaigns and materials that cost a lot of money, but didn't do anything else. We've also seen campaigns like Quizno's, with awful-looking (and sounding!) creatures that captured our attention and generated millions of dollars in revenue (not to mention brand awareness from all that buzz).
In the creative agency world, the goal is to produce the best-looking logos, materials or campaigns. Designs need to be sharp, pleasant and unique. But only the best agencies understand that first we think, then we research, and only then we design. Marketing strategy is not only part of the creative process; it needs to be the starting point. If the agency doesn't understand your target market and your competition, how can they craft a good message, and how can they possibly convey that message through a layout?
Back to Stanley. When we met him, he captured our hearts. Not because he is beautiful, but because Stanley can do something a fluffy kitten could not - he can convey to our target market the message that "Design is not just a pretty face". Any agency can create a cute, adorable mascot. But we realized that Stanley, with his bulgy eyes and rough skin, represents our commitment to see beyond the obvious choice, to take the road less traveled, and to have fun in the process.
